I got a kitchen pass to hang out after work tonight, because my wife is #awesome, and was fortunate enough to meet Chad Pinkston from The Corporate Playbook.
The Corporate Playbook
The Corporate Playbook is an on-line resource and destination for collegiate athletes to get placed into growing companies after they graduate. I could easily relate, as I found my current job though a Junior Military Officer recruiting company, Cameron Brooks, when I resigned my commission from the United States Air Force in 2007.
I also happen to be slightly interested in the recruiting and placement game here locally, so Chad and I ended up talking quite a bit. He came across as an extremely positive and passionate individual, and I really appreciated his energy and enjoyed the conversation.
We talked about athletes making good employees because they’re competitive, they understand that winning doesn’t come easy, and they are able to work as a team with others. We also chatted some about differing schools of thought around “hot leads,” which is a term I learned from a colleague regarding an individual who self identifies for a specific job.
All in all, I’m really glad to have met and talked with Chad tonight and look forward to keeping in touch.
If you are or know of an ex-collegiate athlete looking for a job, then send them/yourself to The Corporate Playbook to get signed up.
