Enjoy the Journey

I had a milestone moment today forcing me to remember that the best parts of life happen along the way. Miniature triumphs, high fives, and rainbows need to be appreciated when they occur, or risk being lost in the shuffle on the crash course toward the next goal.

It’s really important.

It wasn’t even like a major event, though, which is funny. Just this feeling I got inside, both before and after a particular meeting today. It made me remember the time that I’ve put in to get where I am today… to get where we are today. With an understanding that there is still a long road ahead, but a renewed optimism in our ability to get there. Our ability to carry our own rifles.

Working Hard

I think that it’s easy to work hard, especially when passion is involved. The hard part is remembering to enjoy the journey. I like to ask myself why I’m doing what I’m doing, periodically. When I am unable to answer that question, I find something else to be doing… I’ve done that more than a few times over the last decade and never looked back. But what about the times that I am able to answer that question? Definitively even?

– I’m doing what I’m doing because it’s important to me
– I’m doing what I’m doing because I’m having fun

When I ask myself, and receive those answers I take the time to reflect. Like with this post.

You know all this already. There’s nothing new here, except a reminder to myself. I’ve been working really hard for the past eight months and as of today, things are really starting to come together. I got this feeling today that I may be spitting into the wind, but now I’m doing it with a great group of people who all want to make a difference. A group of people that is large enough to actually make a difference.

I love it when a plan comes together.
