I’m still pretty big on my user interface and design kick, so I was trolling around slideshare and came across the presentation below by Garrett Dimon called Improving Interface Design.
It’s 174 page presentation but well worth the time it takes to get through it.
I think that my favorite take away from Garrett’s presentation revolved around the idea of ignoring customer requests. Garrett talks about really hearing what the user is trying to accomplish instead of merely listening to the words they are saying.
From my experience, this couldn’t be any more right on.
I’ve been in countless meetings where I’ve had to pick up on subtle undertones or body language that betrayed the words a person used. When understanding requirements, I don’t think there is such a thing as too much clarification.
Enjoy the slideshow, and please let me know what you think of it in the comments below.
