Have you ever heard a song on the radio and didn’t know the artist or the song title? That’s how I’ve felt for the better part of a month whenever I’d go onto Mashable. Mashable has all the cool toys to make sharing content as easy as possible. I think that’s the way of the future… making it easy for others to take your content to their communities.

It’s also a nice way to propagate information across the internets, because as Emanuel Rosen says: Buzz is not you talking about you to people. Buzz is other people talking to their friends about you.

I have coveted the Socialize WordPress plug-in since the day I first saw it on Mashable about a month ago. We’ve all seen the retweet button. The Socialize plug-in allows you to add other social sharing buttons into the top of a post. The buttons are cool because they make it easy for people to share your stuff, but also show how many people are sharing your stuff. And that’s called Social Proof. I syndicate my content into my Facebook notes, so I’m super excited to have the additional Facebook button in each post now.

The Meebo Bar

My colleague, Naimul, pointed this feature out to me a week or so ago, and in a word it’s awesome. Imagine being able to drag and share content from a site and place it into a live chat, or share it on Twitter or Facebook. That’s what the Meebo Bar does. I don’t know that it makes much sense for this blog, because I’m not creating photos or video, but I know of a site or two that could really benefit from this feature set. So I’m also really excited to have uncovered how to get it.
