I never really liked TweetDeck all that much and I’ve been a Seesmic user for some time now, but today I made the switch.
The kicker for me was that Tweetdeck on my desktop at home can integrate with Tweetdeck on my iPhone.
Simple as that.
I really like the idea of having my groups with me on the go. I’ve been out of the Twitter loop at work during the day because it’s not always easy for me to check in and see what’s going on… I also never really found the time to migrate my Seesmic over to the new desktop at home, which means that I haven’t been watching what others are saying on Twitter at night either for some time now.
Blasphemy
The only way I had been able to sporadically check in here and there was by bringing my personal laptop to work. However, we were recently told that we had to stop doing that, so that put me in a do or die situation. Thus, I have concocted a 90% solution to being social at work despite our firewall limitations, and Twitter was the last box to check.
I tried holding out for you Seesmic, but alas… I couldn’t wait any longer for iPhone integration.
As it stands, I’m ready to give Tweetdeck another shot, even though it’s been really difficult finding the people I am following for the purposes of putting them into groups. Seesmic made that so easy, WTF am I doing wrong?
When it’s all said and done though, I am looking forward to being able to catch up with friends on Twitter again, no matter where I may be. It’s something that I’ve wanted for a while now and am excited to hook myself up with it. Good times.
